AUGUST Inc. announced on Friday it is developing Uta Macross , a "revival" version of the Macross franchise's first rhythm game Uta Macross : Smartphone De Culture , for a planned release on iOS, Android, and Steam next spring. The company will launch a crowdfunding campaign on the Japanese Campfire site on Thursday to raise funds to help with development. The franchise's English social media accounts teased that the revived game will be available in Japanese and English.

Uta Macross is a rhythm game featuring singers and pilots from across the Macross franchise. Players can enjoy numerous classic songs that have helped define the franchise, featuring characters from The Super Dimension Fortress Macross , Macross Plus , Macross 7 , Macross Frontier , and Macross Delta , including characters from their respective TV series and theatrical films. While carrying over popular content from its previous live service version, including live performances and artwork, the game is being rebuilt for release on Steam , iOS, and Android.
The crowdfunding campaign set its goal at 30,000,000 yen (about US$190,000) and will run for 54 days. The campaign will fund additional songs, supported platforms, and other content.
The original game's smartphone controls will be redesigned to also offer mouse and keyboard support, in addition to offline play.
The standard edition of the revived game will feature 50 songs, over 1,000 4-star-or-higher rarity Plate illustrations to win and collect, over 20 outfits for each singer, and a "completely free-to-play" gacha system for the Plates. Multiple DLCs will add the remaining songs from the live service version of the game, as well as select additional Plates and outfits.
The original Uta Macross : Smartphone De Culture ( Uta Mac ross Sumaho De Culture) game launched on iOS and Android in August 2017, delayed from its previously planned spring 2017 debut. The game ended service in June 2022. The game featured the "tactical music unit" Walkūre from Macross Delta and other Macross series characters such as Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee. The title was the "first super-dimensional rhythm game" in the Macross franchise and featured various popular songs from the world of Macross .
