The White House posted a series of videos on social media to promote its new "Arcade" website on Friday. The videos featured several boot-up music and visuals pulled from or inspired by the Sega Genesis, Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS game systems. The initial post, featuring the Sega Genesis boot-up music and visuals, also featured the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog song “Green Hill Zone” and several of the games on the website. The caption for the post said, “CAN'T STOP WINNING. Build the wall. Deport. Fill a Trump Account. LIVE - PLAY NOW.”

As of press time, the linked website has five games: “Flappy Bill,” “Build the Wall,” “Rio Run,” “Supply Line,” and “Trump Savings Tycoon.” “Flappy Bill” resembles the popular 2013 mobile game Flappy Bird . A report by the Associated Press stated the games “Build the Wall,” “Rio Run,” and “Supply Line” resemble the games Tetris , Snake , and Tapper , respectively.
The Associated Press added that The Tetris Company said in a statement that it was not involved in the making of “Build the Wall.” The Tetris Company elaborated on social media:
At Tetris we believe in the power of connection and bringing people together, not dividing them. To our fans everywhere: we love you, we see you, and we're grateful to have you in our community.
The Tetris Company further wrote, “P.S. The Tetris Company was not involved in the creation of ‘Build the Wall’. P.P.S. We take copyright infringement very seriously.”
A report by Forbes noted Sega , Nintendo , Sony , and Microsoft have not issued statements regarding the use of Sega Genesis, Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS assets.
The Trump Administrations Use of Popular IPs
The Trump administration is no stranger to using popular IPs in promoting its agenda. In September 2025, the United States Department of Homeland Security posted a video of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers detaining people, set to the tune of Pokémon 's English theme song. The White House's social media accounts have also used a version of the Pokémon Pokepia game's box art, but modified to read the current administration's slogan, "Make America Great Again," in March 2026. After both incidents, The Pokémon Company said in a statement that it was not involved with the creation of the video and image and had not given the Trump administration permission to use its intellectual property.
The White House's social media accounts posted several videos in early March with video footage of the war in Iran edited with clips from Dragon Ball Super , Yu Gi Oh! , American animated series SpongeBob SquarePants , several Marvel and DC movies, TV series, films, and video games including Grand Theft Auto .
The White House posted a video on June 13 claiming, “Mission accomplished,” set to the Cowboy Bebop anime's opening theme song “Tank!” The video also included audio and video clips from several anime series such as Dragon Ball Z , The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird , Yu Gi Oh! , and My Hero Academia , as well as the WWE Smackdown program, and video game Persona 5 . The Yu Gi Oh! franchise then said in a statement that it and the estate of series creator Kazuki Takahashi were not involved with the creation of the video and had not given the Trump administration permission to use the intellectual property.
The administration has received criticism from a number of Japanese governmental ministers, including Minister of State for Economic Security, Science and Technology Policy, Space Policy, and Intellectual Property Strategy, Kimi Onoda. Regarding a June 6 social medial video using likenesses of the manga and anime franchise Naruto , Onoda said, “Even if it might not constitute clear copyright infringement, [we] should exercise extreme caution to avoid situations where the reputation of a work is damaged by its use in a manner contrary to the rights holders' intent.”
