The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2 Remake Game's Videos Reveal November 5 Release

Nintendo revealed during The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on Tuesday video gameplay for the Nintendo Switch 2 remake for the 1998 Nintendo 64 game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time , and it announces that the game will launch on November 5. The video previews the new visuals and the opening area Kokiri Forest. The gameplay also previews combat in the first dungeon The Great Deku Tree as well as exploration in the main hub Hyrule Field, Hyrule Castle Town, and Lon Lon Ranch. A new trailer previewed more areas and bosses throughout the entire game, and it also revealed voice acting:

The remake adds traditional camera controls, new motion controls, a proper jump button, and a roll dash action. Players can equip an item to the ZR button, and switch between them in a pop-up menu. A new Threads of Time menu helps players recap the story and recognize the next objective. Unlike the original game, time passes in town. Players can now hum into the Switch 2's microphone to play music in-game. The game also recognizes music from an ocarina that customers can purchase. The game also features added dialogue.

The game features compatibility with the Zelda Notes function in the Nintendo Switch App. Today's Record recaps a player's progress on the app. Gossip Quests functions as a scavenger hunt for points that can be exchanged for ocarina music scores. The scores can be used on the Play Ocarina function on the app. The app also includes an Ocarina of Time Quiz with over 2,000 questions. Rupees earned from the app can be used in-game and vice versa.

New amiibo for Young Link and Young Zelda will ship in 2027. Both will unlock in-game masks for the respective character.

The Direct also confirmed a The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition of the Switch 2 console, and a matching Pro Controller and carrying case, that will ship on October 29.

Finally, the series will get a new concert tour for the 40th anniversary starting in Tokyo on January 23. The tour will then go to North America starting in Chicago on February 22, Europe starting in London on April 3, and Australia beginning in Melbourne on May 13. The original The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time debuted for N64 in November 1998 in the U.S. and Japan, and in December 1998 in Europe and Australia. It is the fifth mainline game in The Legend of Zelda series, and it is the first game in the franchise to feature 3D graphics. The game has since received rereleases on various systems, including via two collection discs for Nintendo GameCube, the Virtual Console on Nintendo Wii, and the Nintendo Classics app on Nintendo Switch. The game got a remastered edition for Nintendo 3DS titled The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D in June 2011. The 3DS version, as well as one of the collection discs for GameCube, included a version of the game with different dungeons titled The Legend of Zelda : Master Quest based on a Nintendo 64DD title.

The game got a manga adaptation by Akira Himekawa , who has also drawn manga of other games in the franchise , in 2000. Viz Media has released the manga in English.

The Legend of Zelda : Echoes of Wisdom , the first mainline game in the series that stars Zelda as the main playable character, as opposed to Link, launched for Nintendo Switch in September 2024. The top-down game features an artstyle similar to the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening , which shipped for Switch in September 2019.

The Legend of Zelda : Tears of the Kingdom Switch game debuted in May 2023. The sequel game was previously delayed from 2022 to spring 2023 in order to extend development time. Nintendo released The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild for Switch and Nintendo Wii U in March 2017.

The franchise 's live-action film will open April 30, 2027, a week earlier from its previously planned May 7, 2027 opening date. The May 7, 2027 opening date was itself a delay from the film's original March 26, 2027 opening date. Unlike most games in the series, the film has no subtitle.
